Description
The SureFire X300 Ultra is the pistol light a lot of other lights get measured against. It's one of the most widely issued weapon lights in law enforcement and military units, and it earned that the boring way: it runs, it survives recoil and abuse, and it keeps working. The current X300U puts out 1,000 lumens on two CR123A batteries for about 1.25 hours, with a TIR lens that throws a tight center beam plus enough spill to light up the edges, so it works close up and reaches out to distance.
Activation is ambidextrous. There are paddle switches on both sides at the rear of the light: press either side for momentary on, or flip up or down for constant on. You don't have to change your grip or think about which hand you're using. It's machined from aerospace aluminum with a Mil-Spec hard-anodized finish and sealed to IPX7, so it shrugs off weather, dust, and a dunk.
Pick the Right Model: A or B
The X300 Ultra comes in two versions, and this is the one decision you have to get right before ordering. The difference is how the light clamps to your pistol's rail:
- X300U-A (Rail-Lock quick latch): You pull the levers and slide it on, and it locks in place. This is the right choice for most polymer-frame pistols (Glock, M&P, and similar) and it's the version most people want for fast on and off.
- X300U-B (thumbscrew T-slot): Hand-tighten, then a quarter turn with a coin, casing, or flat blade. This is the version for certain metal-frame guns (many 1911 and similar rails).
If you're not sure which your pistol takes, check your frame's rail type before ordering, or reach out and we'll help you confirm. The light is the same either way; only the mount differs.
X300 Ultra vs X300 Turbo
If you're deciding between this and the X300 Turbo, here's the honest difference. The Ultra is the flood option: 1,000 lumens with a wider, brighter overall beam, best for close to medium range. The Turbo trades lumens for reach, with far higher peak intensity and much more throw, so it punches a tight hot spot way out there but lights up less of the area up close. For most pistol use indoors and at typical distances, the Ultra's flood is the easier light to live with. If you specifically want maximum throw or you're running it where distance matters, look at the Turbo.
Run a Red Dot With It
Setting up a defensive or duty pistol? The X300 pairs naturally with a slide-mounted red dot like the Holosun 507C X2 or 508T X2, and a light-bearing holster like the Safariland 6354RDSO is cut to fit a Glock running an X300. Keep spare SureFire CR123A batteries on hand since that's what it runs on.

FAQ
Should I get the A or B model?
The A (Rail-Lock quick latch) is the right pick for most polymer-frame pistols like Glock and M&P and is the faster on/off option. The B (thumbscrew) is for certain metal-frame guns. The light is identical; only the clamp differs. Check your pistol's rail before ordering if you're unsure.
What's the difference between the Ultra and the Turbo?
The Ultra is brighter overall (1,000 lumens) with more flood for close to medium range. The Turbo has much higher candela and far more throw for distance, but fewer lumens. Most pistol users at typical distances prefer the Ultra's flood; pick the Turbo if you want maximum reach.
What batteries does it use and are they included?
Two CR123A lithium batteries, and yes, they're included. Keep spares on hand for range days and to refresh a carry light.
Can I add a pressure switch?
Yes. The X300 Ultra accepts SureFire's optional DG grip switch and XT remote switches for activation without changing your grip.
Will it fit in my holster?
You need a holster cut for a light-bearing pistol with an X300. A duty holster like the Safariland 6354RDSO is built for a Glock with an X300 and an optic. Always confirm a holster lists X300 compatibility before relying on it.
