Description

The Holosun 507C X2 is one of the best-selling pistol red dots on the market, and it earned that spot by stacking more features into a working-price optic than anything near it. It's an open reflex sight on the industry-standard RMR footprint, built for full-size and compact pistols, so it drops onto any RMR-cut optics-ready slide or onto a non-optics-ready pistol with an adapter plate. It will also run on a rifle with an RMR-pattern mount, but this is a pistol optic first.

The feature people buy it for is the Multi-Reticle System. You can run a precise 2 MOA dot by itself, a fast 32 MOA circle by itself, or the circle and dot together, and you switch between them by holding the minus button without losing zero. The big circle is easy to catch on the draw, the bare dot is what you want for a precise shot, and having both means you don't have to pick one and live with it.

On top of that it has Solar Failsafe, which uses a small solar panel to keep the optic running even if the battery dies, and Shake Awake, which sleeps the optic after about ten minutes of stillness and wakes it the instant you move the gun. There's also a Lock Mode that disables the buttons so a holster or a bump can't change your settings while you carry.

One honest note on battery life that most listings skip: Holosun's "up to 50,000 hours" number applies when you run the bare 2 MOA dot. If you run the MRS circle-dot reticle, which is the feature you're probably buying it for, real battery life is closer to 20,000 hours because the ring draws more power. Either way that's years of normal use, and Solar Failsafe backs it up, but it's worth knowing the headline number depends on the reticle. You can see the matching 507C ARD below and the rest of our red dots and optics here.

Cut the Glare

An open-emitter optic shows glint and reflection in bright sun. The CovertArms Holosun 507C/407C ARD is a honeycomb anti-reflection device cut for this optic's window to kill that reflection and add a little lens protection.

How It Compares to Our Other Holosun Pistol Dots

If you don't need the circle, the Holosun 407C X2 is the same optic with a simple 2 MOA dot only, on the same RMR footprint. The 508T X2 adds a titanium housing for more durability, and the 507Comp steps up to a much larger competition window with selectable circle sizes.

Key Features

  • Multi-Reticle System (MRS). Selectable 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle, or both, switched without losing zero.
  • Solar Failsafe. Solar panel keeps the optic running even if the battery dies.
  • Shake Awake. Sleeps when idle, wakes on motion so the dot is ready on the draw.
  • Lock Mode. Disables the buttons so carry or a holster can't change your settings.
  • RMR footprint. Direct mount on any RMR-cut slide or adapter plate.
  • Side-loading battery. CR1632 swaps from the side without removing the optic or losing zero.
  • 7075 T6 aluminum, IP67. Built and sealed for duty and carry use.
  • Red or green reticle. Available in both emitter colors.

FAQ

What does the 507C X2 mount on?
Optics-ready pistols with an RMR footprint. It drops directly onto any RMR-cut slide, or onto a non-optics-ready pistol with an RMR adapter plate. Check your pistol's optic cut before ordering if you're not sure.

What is the Multi-Reticle System?
It's a selectable reticle. You can run a 2 MOA dot alone, a 32 MOA circle alone, or both together, and you switch between them with the minus button without losing your zero. The circle is fast to pick up, the dot is precise.

What does Solar Failsafe do?
A small solar panel on top supplements the battery and keeps the optic running even if the battery dies, so you're not left with a dark optic if you forget to change it.

How long does the battery actually last?
About 50,000 hours if you run the bare 2 MOA dot, and around 20,000 hours if you run the MRS circle-dot reticle, since the ring uses more power. Both are years of normal use, and Solar Failsafe backs it up.

Red or green dot, which should I get?
Green is often easier for some eyes to pick up in bright light, while red draws slightly less battery. Both use the same MRS reticle and housing. It's personal preference.

Can I change the battery without losing zero?
Yes. The CR1632 loads from a side tray, so you don't remove the optic from the slide to replace it, and your zero stays put.
