Description
The Magpul Suppressor Cover is built around a raised stainless steel heat shield with a heat-resistant polymer sleeve over the top. Steel clamps secure the assembly directly to the suppressor body. That gap between the shield and the can is functional, not cosmetic. It allows airflow across the suppressor surface during and after firing, which accelerates cooling. The external cover temperature runs up to 1,000 degrees F cooler than the suppressor surface itself, which keeps hands, gear and nearby personnel out of the burn equation during extended strings of fire.
The cover also serves as a thermal insulator and signature reduction device. By containing heat closer to the can, it significantly reduces mirage distortion in the shooter's sight picture, which matters at any range where heat shimmer off a hot suppressor would otherwise wash out a target. It also adds a layer of protection against impact damage to the suppressor body.
This cover is sized for round suppressors with a 1.5" outer diameter and a body length of approximately 5.5", not counting attachment hardware or interface. Magpul lists the SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 as a compatible example. Verify your suppressor's OD and body length before ordering. Available in Black and Coyote Tan.

Will this fit my suppressor?
It is optimized for round suppressors with a 1.5" outer diameter and a body length of approximately 5.5", measured excluding any attachment hardware or muzzle interface. Magpul references the SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 as a confirmed fit. If your suppressor matches those dimensions, it should work. Verify before ordering if you have any doubt.
Does the cover interfere with suppressor cooling?
