Description
The SureFire FH556RC-1/2-28 is the flash hider SureFire developed specifically for the USSOCOM suppressor contract trial, which it won. That context matters: the four-prong design was engineered under the pressure of the most demanding military suppressor evaluation on record, not derived from a commercial product.
The four-tine geometry reduces muzzle flash by more than 99% compared to a bare muzzle. Beyond signature reduction, the design incorporates multiple bearing surfaces that index the suppressor concentrically and give SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach suppressors a solid, repeatable mounting platform. If you are running or planning to run a SureFire SOCOM can, this is the correct host device.
Machined from U.S. mil-certified stainless steel bar stock and heat-treated for strength and erosion resistance. Each unit is individually inspected for concentricity and alignment before it ships. Thread pitch is 1/2x28 RH, fitting standard .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO barrels with that thread specification. Covered by SureFire's No-Hassle Guarantee.

Will this work with non-SureFire suppressors?
The FH556RC-1/2-28 is engineered specifically around the SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach interface. Compatibility with other suppressor mounting systems is not guaranteed. Verify fitment with your suppressor manufacturer before purchasing.
Does the four-prong design affect durability?
The tines are a known tradeoff on any prong-style flash hider. SureFire addresses this with mil-certified stainless steel and heat treatment, but prong designs are generally more susceptible to physical damage from hard contact than closed-end designs. Handle and store accordingly.
