Description
The Sig Sauer Romeo MSR Gen 2 is a 1x red dot sight built for AR-15s and other modern sporting rifles. It runs a 2 MOA dot, which is a good middle ground: small enough to make a precise shot at distance, big enough to find fast up close. This is the second-generation MSR, redesigned from the original with a slimmer body, a better brightness dial, and a mount that matches the rest of Sig's Romeo line. If you've seen the older skeletonized-mount MSR, this is not that optic.
What you're paying for here is a dependable, no-frills dot at a working-man price. It's not a $500 enclosed optic and it doesn't pretend to be. The glass is clear, the dot is crisp, the adjustments are tactile, and it holds zero through recoil and rough handling. For a range rifle, a truck gun, a home-defense carbine, or a first AR you're setting up for a new shooter, it does the job without you babysitting it.
Brightness runs off an analog rotary dial with 12 settings: 10 daytime levels and 2 dedicated night vision levels, so it works behind a PVS-14 as well as in bright sun. It's sealed to IPX-7, so it'll take rain and a dunk, and it runs on a single CR2032 battery that Sig rates at roughly 35,000 hours (their marketing lists up to 40,000). The dial is a true on/off, so turn it off for long-term storage and the battery will last for years of normal use.
It ships with a see-through riser mount that gives you a 1.41" absolute co-witness on a standard 1913 Picatinny rail, so your backup irons line up through the optic if you run them. Browse the full optics and red dots selection if you're still deciding.
Pair It With
Want magnification for longer shots? The Sig Juliet3 3x Micro Magnifier is the matching flip-to-side magnifier Sig builds for this optic. If you want to raise the dot for night vision or a heads-up shooting position, the Overbore Systems Night-Height Micro Mount bumps it to a 2.33" passive-aiming height. Cross-shopping in the same price range? The Sig Romeo 5 Gen 2 and the Holosun ARO are the other compact 2 MOA dots we carry.

FAQ
What rifles does the Romeo MSR Gen 2 work on?
Anything with a standard 1913 Picatinny rail: AR-15s and other modern sporting rifles, PCCs, and shotguns. The included riser is set up for AR-height co-witness.
Does it come with a mount, or do I need to buy one?
It comes with a see-through riser mount in the box that gives a 1.41" absolute co-witness. You don't need to buy anything else to put it on an AR. If you want a taller mount for night vision or passive aiming, the Overbore Night-Height Micro is an option.
Can I use it with night vision?
Yes. Two of the 12 brightness settings are dedicated night vision levels for use behind a night vision device.
Does it have shake-awake or motion activation?
No. The Gen 2 uses an analog on/off rotary dial rather than a motion-wake system, so you turn it on to use it and off for storage. Battery life is long enough that this isn't a hassle in normal use. If you specifically want a shake-awake dot, the Holosun ARO and Sig Romeo 5 Gen 2 have that feature.
How long does the battery last?
Sig rates it at about 35,000 hours, and their marketing lists up to 40,000 depending on brightness setting. On a single CR2032 that's years of normal use. Turn it off for long-term storage to maximize life.
What battery does it take?
A single CR2032, which is included.
