The Holosun SCS-M-GR mounts directly to the Glock MOS footprint with no adapter plate. It is Holosun's lowest-profile pistol optic and is designed to cowitness with standard-height iron sights, which most pistol-footprint optics cannot claim without a riser or suppressor-height irons.
Power management is the defining engineering choice here. The SCS treats solar as the primary source, not a backup. Integrated solar cells charge an internal rechargeable battery continuously in ambient light. Automatic brightness adjustment works alongside this to keep the reticle usable without manual input. The result is a sight that, given routine exposure to light, sustains itself for the shelf life of the battery rather than requiring periodic CR battery swaps.
The tradeoff is real: a fixed internal battery means you cannot do a field battery swap if the cell degrades over years of use or if the optic is stored in the dark for extended periods. Plan your storage and carry conditions accordingly.
