Baofeng UV-5R Mini
The Baofeng UV-5R Mini takes everything that made the original UV-5R a legend and shrinks it down to pocket size. Available at Defense Distributors, it transmits on VHF and UHF with selectable 5 or 2 watt output and receives FM, Airband, NOAA, and standard UHF/VHF frequencies. The result is a fully functional field radio that fits anywhere without giving up performance.
Programming is simple. Use the Bluetooth app on iOS or Android to configure channels and settings in minutes. No cables required. For bulk or advanced setups, CPS and CHIRP on PC remain fully supported.
With 999 channels, you can store entire team networks, event channels, or regional repeaters. A single button can reverse transmit and receive frequencies for faster response or clone channel data directly to another radio. Dual PTT buttons and true dual standby let you monitor and transmit on two channels at once.
Power comes from a rechargeable USB-C battery, eliminating the need for bulky docks. The radio includes a customizable side key, flashlight, stopwatch, and full keypad. Despite its small frame, it remains a serious communications tool for field work, emergency prep, and everyday carry.
