Description

The iRay RH25 V2 RICO Micro is a thermal optic that does the job of four separate devices. Run it as a helmet-mounted scanner, a standalone thermal weapon sight, a handheld monocular, or a clip-on in front of your existing day optic. That versatility is the whole point: instead of buying a dedicated thermal scope, a separate scanner, and a clip-on, you buy one compact unit that swaps between all of those roles. For hog hunters, predator callers, and anyone who wants thermal capability without committing to a single use case, that flexibility is hard to beat.

The image is what you're paying for, and the V2 sharpened it across the board. At the core is a 640×480 thermal sensor with a 12µm pixel pitch running InfiRay's MATRIX III processing, paired with a ≤18mK NETD rating, which measures thermal sensitivity, lower is better, and 18mK puts this among the more sensitive units in its class. In plain terms, it picks up subtle temperature differences and gives you a clean, detailed image even in tricky thermal conditions. The 60Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth when you're scanning or tracking, and the 25mm f/1.0 manual-focus lens pulls in maximum thermal energy for fast detection and fine detail at distance.

You view all of that through an upgraded 1440×1080 AMOLED display, which iRay made 80% larger with 97% more pixels than the original RH25, paired with a new eyepiece that's more comfortable and supports clip-on use behind day optics up to 6x magnification. The body is machined magnesium alloy to keep weight down, and it records to 64GB of internal storage with audio. A USB-C port handles fast file transfer and lets you run the unit off an external battery pack to extend the roughly 4+ hours you get from the included rechargeable 18650.

It ships with a MUM rail and Picatinny riser to cover helmet, rifle, and handheld mounting, with further options through iRay's PICTAIL system. It comes in a Flat Dark Earth (tan) finish. Browse the rest of our optics and night vision here.

Thermal vs Night Vision: Which Do You Need?

Thermal and night vision are different tools, and the RH25 V2 is squarely a thermal. Thermal detects heat signatures, so it sees a warm animal or person through brush, fog, smoke, and total darkness, even with zero ambient light, which makes it the best tool for detection. What it doesn't do is show fine visual detail or let you read faces and features the way a light-amplifying night vision device does. If your priority is finding heat in the dark, thermal wins. If you want to identify detail and see a natural-looking image, that's where a device like the DNT NVMD-C200 digital night vision comes in. A lot of serious users run both, thermal to detect, night vision to identify.

Build Out Your Setup

New to running thermal and night vision gear? Our NVG Cards are a quick-reference set covering low-light and night vision fundamentals to keep in your kit. If you also run an IR laser setup under night vision, the Holosun IRIS-3 pairs aiming lasers with an IR illuminator for the night vision side of the house.

FAQ

What's the difference between thermal and night vision?
Thermal detects heat, so it sees warm targets through brush, fog, smoke, and total darkness with no ambient light needed, which makes it the best tool for detection. Night vision amplifies available light and shows fine visual detail for identification. The RH25 V2 is a thermal; many users pair a thermal for detecting with night vision for identifying.

What does "multifunction" actually mean here?
It works in four roles: helmet-mounted scanner, standalone thermal weapon sight, handheld monocular, and clip-on in front of a day optic. The included mounts let you move it between a helmet and a rifle, so one unit covers all of those jobs.

Can I use it as a clip-on in front of my scope?
Yes. It's compatible as a clip-on behind day optics up to 6x magnification, so you can run it in front of an LPVO, prism, or red dot with magnifier and keep your normal day optic in place.

What does the 18mK NETD mean?
NETD measures thermal sensitivity, the smallest temperature difference the sensor can distinguish, and lower is better. At ≤18mK, the RH25 V2 is among the more sensitive units in its class, which translates to a cleaner, more detailed image, especially in difficult thermal conditions.

How is the V2 different from the original RH25?
The V2 adds a faster 60Hz refresh rate, improved ≤18mK sensitivity, a much larger 1440×1080 AMOLED display, a lighter machined magnesium housing, USB-C with external power, and 64GB storage with audio recording.
