Description

The DNT Optics NVMD-C200 is a digital night vision device that does the job of four separate units. It's a standalone night vision scope, a clip-on you run in front of a day optic, a red dot magnifier, and an action camera, switchable between roles depending on how you set it up. The pitch is simple: instead of buying a dedicated NV scope, a separate clip-on, and a camera, you buy one device that covers all of it.

The reason that matters is cost. Traditional Gen 3 tube night vision runs several thousand dollars for a single-purpose unit. The NVMD-C200 is digital night vision, which gets you real nighttime capability and recording at a fraction of that price. Be clear-eyed about the tradeoff, though: digital NV is not the same as an analog Gen 3 image-intensifier tube. It's far cheaper and adds features tubes don't have (recording, multiple display modes, day use), but in true darkness it performs best paired with an IR illuminator, and it won't match a $4,000 tube for pure low-light image quality. For hunters, landowners, home-defense users, and shooters who want usable night vision without spending Gen 3 money, that's a trade most are glad to make.

It runs a large-pixel CMOS sensor behind a fast f/1.2 lens to pull in as much light as possible, with 1-6x digital magnification and four imaging modes: Full Color for daytime, plus Black & White, Green Phosphor, and White Phosphor for night. You get three reticle options (BDC, Post, and Round Cross) in five colors, a Micro-OLED display, and a wide field of view with a forgiving 65mm eye relief and eye box for fast target acquisition.

On the recording side it captures 1080p video at 50fps with audio to 32GB of built-in storage, with loop recording and recoil-activated video (RAV) that starts when you fire. It connects to the DNT app over Wi-Fi for live view, playback, and sharing. Power is a rechargeable 18650 battery (included) good for about 6 hours, with USB-C external power, and the whole thing is IP67 sealed and rated to withstand .50 BMG recoil (800G).

It ships with the QDS150 standard quick-detach picatinny mount. For flip-to-side use, the QDF170 flip-to-side QD mount is sold separately. Browse the rest of our optics and night vision here.

The Flip-to-Side Mount

The included QDS150 mount is great for fixed scope, clip-on, or magnifier use. If you want to flip the device out of the way on demand, the QDF170 flip-to-side mount lets you swing it aside to go back to your day optic, and it can trigger standby or start recording when flipped. It's the accessory most NVMD-C200 owners add.

Know Your Night Vision

New to running night vision on a rifle? Our NVG Cards are a quick-reference set covering night vision fundamentals and field use, handy to keep in your kit while you learn the device. If you're cross-shopping against thermal, the iRay RH25 thermal monocular is a different tool, thermal detects heat signatures rather than amplifying light, which is better for detection but doesn't show detail the way NV does.

FAQ

Is this real night vision or just a camera?
It's digital night vision. It uses a high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and a fast f/1.2 lens to see in low light, and it works best in true darkness with an IR illuminator. It's not an analog Gen 3 tube, but it gives you real, usable nighttime capability plus recording and multiple modes at a fraction of Gen 3 cost.

What are the four modes?
Standalone scope (1-6x digital), red dot magnifier (behind your red dot), clip-on (in front of a day optic), and action camera. You switch roles based on how you mount and configure it.

Does it record video?
Yes. It records 1080p at 50fps with audio to 32GB of internal storage, including loop recording and recoil-activated video that starts when you fire. You can pull and share clips through the DNT app.

What battery does it use and how long does it last?
A rechargeable 18650 flat-top battery (included), good for about 6 hours. It also accepts external USB-C power to extend runtime.

Does it come with a mount?
Yes, the QDS150 standard quick-detach picatinny mount is included. The QDF170 flip-to-side mount, which lets you swing the device aside and can trigger recording, is sold separately.

Will it hold up to recoil?
It's rated to 800G, which DNT specs as .50 BMG capable, and it's IP67 sealed against water and dust.
